Halloween cruise takes souls on spooky trip down the river

With Halloween right around the corner, this season some brave souls are taking a spooky trip down the Provo River to enjoy a boat ride unlike any other.

During the fall season people typically go to haunted houses or costume parties, but for those looking for something different, there is a spooky adventure on the water: CLAS Ropes Course is offering Halloween cruises.

The grounds are filled with Halloween decorations and families are eager to get on the water.

'With the Halloween Cruise there is over 100 jack-o-lanterns lit up along the river, the captain tells a scary story, a pirate attacks the ship and hands out candy,' CLAS Ropes owner Benjamin Allen said.

The cruise has been running for 22 years but originally was a spook alley designed to scare customers. Allen and his wife eventually came to the conclusion that there was a better use for the space.

'My wife kept saying there has got to be something more uplifting than a spook alley. So, we started brainstorming and thought something more unique may be to do a boat ride on the river,' Allen said.

The river's calm and festive feel caters to several families, date nights and friend groups. The river is draper with orange lights and decorated with ghosts and pumpkins.

'I encourage everyone to come on out and experience something very unique. How often can you go on a boat ride in Utah at any time of the year?' Allen said.

On nights with good weather, an outdoor Halloween movie will also play right outside the front office. If you are interested in taking a Halloween boat ride, you can book a spot on theCLAS Ropes website.
