FBI National Academy graduate Chris Autry was appointed as BYU's new police chief on Jan. 1, the university announced Thursday.
Student Life Vice President Janet S. Scharman announced the appointment of Autry, who has been serving as the interim BYU police chief since Chief Larry Stott's retirement in July 2018.
According to the press release, Autry has showed that he is qualified for this new role through his 22 years of service as an officer with the BYU Police department.
'(Autry) has been an outstanding officer during his 22 years with the BYU Police Department,' Sharman said. 'He has a broad set of skills and experience, and he is well qualified to take on this new assignment.”
