Wilmington Isle: Food, water handouts set in isolated city

Officials will begin distributing supplies to the stranded residents of Wilmington, North Carolina, on Sept. 18. Wilmington, one of the largest cities in the state with a population of 120,000, is still largely cut off because of floodwaters from Hurricane Florence.

Review underway for Russia probe documents ordered released

President Donald Trump chose to declassify several documents regarding the FBI’s Russia investigation on Sept. 17. The step comes thanks to encouragement from Trump’s allies in Congress to release the documents, which include a secret surveillance warrant application and James Comey’s text messages.

China raises tariffs on $60B of US goods in technology

The trade war continues: China announced on Sept. 18 it will raise tariffs on $60 billion worth of U.S. goods. The tariffs, which apply to over 5,000 types of U.S. products, will increase by 10 percent or 5 percent. The move comes in response to President Trump’s tariffs on about 5,000 Chinese products.

Marvel releases trailer for ‘Captain Marvel’

Marvel released the trailer for “Captain Marvel” on Sept. 18. “Captain Marvel” is the next installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is set to release on March 8, 2019, less than two months before the release of the fourth “Avengers” movie.
