BYU's Harold B. Lee Library was briefly evacuated at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday due to a triggered fire alarm.
Library communications director Roger Layton confirmed the alarm was due to construction, which has been ongoing at the library. According to Layton, the alarm was caused by welding smoke.
'The construction crews have been working for months, and have been great about avoiding incidents like this,' Layton said.
Layton also said the library was evacuated in a quick, orderly fashion. The alarms were reset and students were allowed re-enter to the library facilities following evaluation.
