The next step for Eric Mika could one that takes him closer to the NBA as he was one of 67 players invited to the NBA Draft Combine to showcase his talent to league scouts.

'I’m looking forward to the process,” Mika said. “I have every intention of pursuing this opportunity with the hope of impressing NBA teams. I will work hard over the next several weeks to put myself in a position to be drafted. I’m optimistic about my chances.'

Mika could still return to the Cougars next season as he has not hired an agent as of May 8.

“I’m not hiring an agent because I believe it’s important to have options, and I don’t want to rule out the possibility of returning to BYU next season,” Mika said.

The 6-foot-10 inch forward would have to withdraw from the draft before May 24 to maintain his NCAA eligibility.

Before heading to Chicago, Mika participated in a workout session with the Utah Jazz on Sunday.

The combine will be held from Tuesday through Sunday at the Quest Center in Chicago.

Friday's events will be broadcast on ESPN2.
