While Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is a tale as old as time, it’s getting a Disney-style makeover to join the new wave of live-action fairy tales along with other classics like Cinderella (2015) and Snow White (2012).

The new film, which debuts in theaters March 17, is taking the world by storm, with 92 million views of the trailer on it’s first day (which was more than Star Wars: The Force Awakens received) and advance ticket sales outpacing those for Captain America: Civil War.

The new version of the film will make a few changes to the original tale, this time casting the heroine Belle as an inventor as well as traditional book-lover, and Gaston’s comedic sidekick LeFou as gay.

The Daily Universe set out across campus to find out how BYU students feel about the film and the changes made to this classic tale.
