Theft






Feb. 13 - A student reported a secured bicycle stolen from Wyview Park. The bicycle was worth $700.

Feb. 14 - A student reported that a $40 Levi jacket was taken from his chair in the Harold B. Lee Library.

Feb. 14 - A student reported a secured bicycle taken from the bike racks outside Amanda Knight Hall.  The bicycle is worth $500 and has been entered on the national Retail Theft Database.

Feb. 15 - A student reported $36 worth of items stolen from an unsecured wallet.

Feb. 17 - A student reported a bicycle secured with a cable lock stolen from the bike racks at the Martin Building. The bicycle was worth $400.

Feb. 17 - A student reported a $500 bicycle secured with a cable lock taken from the bike racks at Helaman Halls. The bicycle is entered on the national Retail Theft Database.





Feb. 22 - A student reported a bicycle secured with a cable lock stolen from the bike racks at Heritage Halls. The bike is estimated to be worth $1,500.






Disorderly conduct



Feb. 15 - A student reported another student for acting disorderly in the Harold B. Lee Library. The suspect flipped a computer keyboard over, was loud and used profanity. The student was escorted out of the area.



Feb. 15 - A student reported individuals breaking glass in a bicycle rack area at Helaman Halls. The individuals were gone by the time a University Police officer arrived.

Feb. 18 - A student reported a disorderly intoxicated man at the Marriott Center. The man was escorted from the area.

Feb. 20 - Officers responded to a report of two brothers involved in a verbal argument and fight at the LaVell Edwards Stadium. Officers separated the brothers.






Harassment 

Feb. 22 - A student reported receiving harassing text messages from an unknown individual.

Drug paraphernalia

Feb. 24 - A man was arrested on reports of growing marijuana and using it to create marijuana byproducts.

Fire

Feb. 24  - A woman is in critical condition after a fire destroyed her home. Firefighters have yet to determine the cause of the fire, but they said it does not appear to be suspicious. Thirteen dogs were killed in the fire.

Child abuse homicide

Feb. 24 - A woman was sentenced to zero to five years at the Utah State Prison for a third-degree felony of child abuse homicide.

Sexual exploitation/assault

Feb. 23 - A man reportedly sent a video of two naked underage girls to his Snapchat story where all of his followers could see the video. He was arrested on charges of sexual exploitation.

Feb. 23 - A man is suspected of two first-degree felony counts of rape, one first-degree felony count of forcible sodomy, one second-degree felony count of tampering with evidence, one third-degree felony count of aggravated assault-domestic violence and one misdemeanor count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He already faces one first-degree count of felony kidnapping.

Burglary

Feb. 20 - Officers are searching for a woman who is suspected of burglarizing a hotel room and stealing a laptop. The woman was arrested for this crime in August, but a warrant was issued for her arrest when she violated her probation.

Feb. 13 - A woman was cited after she was caught shoplifting at Wal-Mart.

Feb. 13 - A woman was arrested after she was caught shoplifting at Wal-Mart due to some previous theft convictions.

Feb. 13 - A man was cited for theft after he was caught shoplifting at Smith's.

Feb. 13 - A woman was cited after she was caught shoplifting at Harmon's.

Feb. 13 - A man was cited after he was caught shoplifting at Hobby Lobby.

Feb. 13 - A man and woman were arrested after they were caught shoplifting at Hobby Lobby. They both had previous convictions and the man had meth in his possession.

Feb. 13 - A female was cited after she was caught shoplifting at University Mall.

Feb. 13 - A man was cited for theft after he was caught shoplifting at Wal-Mart.

Feb. 13 - A man was arrested after he was caught shoplifting at Hobby Lobby because he had a previous warrant out for his arrest.

Feb. 24 - A woman was cited after she was caught shoplifting from Target.

Feb. 24 - A man was cited after he was caught shoplifting at Wal-Mart.

Fraud

Feb. 21 - A woman was charged with felony prescription fraud after she called in a false prescription to a local pharmacy.

Domestic violence

Feb. 20 - A woman called the police because her brother allegedly punched his sister, pulled her hair and slammed her head into a wall. When the father stepped in, the suspect allegedly hurt him as well. When the man found out his sister had called the police, he kicked the front door, breaking the door frame, and fled. The man has not yet been found.

Feb. 21 - A man was arrested for being violent toward his girlfriend. He threw a TV, PlayStation 4 and laptop.

Drug paraphernalia

Feb. 13 - A man called the police because he locked his keys in his car. Officers unlocked his car for him, but ended up taking him to jail because he had marijuana in his possession and several warrants out for his arrest.

Feb. 13 - Officers arrested a woman on a felony warrant. When she was being booked into jail, the woman claimed she was pregnant. A test revealed she wasn't pregnant, but she had been using meth and marijuana.

Feb. 20 - An officer stopped a car and when she talked to the driver, she smelled marijuana. The marijuana was confiscated and the driver was cited.

Feb. 20 - An officer smelled marijuana when he stopped a car with two juveniles. The marijuana was confiscated and the juveniles received a ticket.

Feb. 21 - An officer smelled marijuana when he stopped a car for an equipment violation. The marijuana was confiscated and the driver was cited.

Feb. 21 - An officer stopped a car for not having working brake lights. The car was uninsured, so the officer had the car towed. The man and woman who were driving the car had meth in their possession and stolen property inside the car.


Disorderly conduct

Feb. 13 - An officer stopped two cars for racing on State Street. Both drivers were cited and both cars were impounded.

Feb. 13 - Officers and medics assisted a woman who gave birth to a baby on the sidewalk near 200 W. 1600 North.

DUI

Feb. 13 - A woman was arrested for DUI after she was involved in an accident at the intersection of Center Street and State Street.
