The biggest slip-n-slide to hit asphalt is coming to Orem this summer on July 30.
'Slide the City' is a king-size slip and slide measuring 1,000 feet — that's three city blocks, of slick summer fun.
'Slide the City came from years of childhood slip and slides,' said Mackena Quinn, the public relations manager for Slide the City. 'One of the best parts of summer was speeding down a slip and slide on a hot day and so the creators of Slide the City just thought, 'Why not make it king size so that we can create a nostalgia of summer past?''
Slide the City began in 2014 and has grown in popularity ever since. According to Quinn, the creators are amping up the party this year with street vendors, music and entertainment.
'We want this year to be more of an all-day event that caters to every member of your family,' Quinn said.
Safety is the No. 1 priority at the event. Mouth guards are required to go down the slide. There will also be two ambulances and six Emergency Medical Services persons on site to help with any injuries that occur.
However, even with these precautions, accidents still happen.
'Collision is likely to happen,' said Malorie Black, a participant last year. We definitely collided with people, which hurt, but it was so fun though.”
Also, last year the pumps for the inner tubes didn’t work, so Black said they had to blow them up themselves.
'That was unfortunate,' Black said.

Yet despite the inconveniences, Black and friend Kaci McNeil were nothing but enthusiastic about the experience.
'It was a blast. I would totally do it again,' McNeil said. 'The slide was awesome.'
Black advises this summer's group of sliders to bring water and snacks, while McNeil encourages going with close friends.
'The ones you go on adventures with. The ones who are down to anything and be crazy and active — those are the kinds of people to go with for sure,' McNeil said.
Slide the City will arrive in Orem on July 30 at 800 S. 750 West. Pricing packages rang from $13 to $99, depending on how many times participants want to travel down the slide.
