The NFL reinstated the two New England Patriots staffers that were suspended after the deflated ball scandal. John Jastremski and Jim McNally fulfilled the requirements for reinstatement and have been granted permission to return. Jastremski is prohibited from handling footballs, and McNally is prohibited from being a locker attendant or handling equipment. The NFL is currently appealing Tom Brady's four-game suspension.

Kobe Bryant is cleared to play after recovering from shoulder surgery. He will be joining the Los Angeles Lakers at training camp in two weeks for the 2015-2016 season.

Jung Ho Kang of the Pittsburgh Pirates injured his left knee and fractured his leg, ending his season prematurely. He was upended at second base by Chris Coghlan when they were playing against the Chicago Cubs. Kang issued a statement through his agent, saying that he believed Coghlan did not injure him on purpose.

Vance Lederman, CFO of the Syracuse Crunch, offered Donald Trump a job as coach of the team. He extended Trump the offer in a video posted on the Crunch's Youtube page.
