The Campus Maps application recently expanded to add BYU to its navigation services.

A map shows how each phase will affect the campus. Phase 1 is blue, Phase 2 is green, and Phase 3 is red.

The app uses licensed Google Map technology to help students and visitors navigate college campuses and features one-tap navigation, allowing users to route directions to their destination.

Campus Maps founder Vikram Bhandari developed the app from his dorm room at the University of Maryland.

“The idea for Campus Maps came from getting my schedule in my sophomore year,” Bhandari said. “Finding my new classes was a hassle, because the school maps were hard to use. I … built Campus Maps to do that as well as provide directions and navigation to my destinations.”

Bhandari believes it to be a useful multi-use tool for students.

“It is the mobile Swiss Army knife of finding your way around campus,” he said. “It auto-updates, and students always have the latest buildings.”

The app has a 4.5 iTunes rating and more than 35,000 downloads from the UMD.
