BYU hockey crushed in tough loss to Utah State to end season

The Utah State hockey team wasted little time getting on the board, scoring five goals within the first ten minutes of the first period, crushing the Cougars 12-0, Friday night in Logan.

The Cougars, down 5-0 after five minutes of play in the first, were forced to change goalie, off goals from Andrew Latham and Julian Herrera.

The Aggies scored six in the first, three in the second and three in the final period, as they prepare to go to regionals on Feb. 22-23 in Flagstaff, Az.. They go into the tournament ranked as the No. 3 seed and will play Denver in the first round of play.

Up 9-0 with only minutes to go, the Aggies didn't let up, tacking on three more goals to seal the game off a tip in goal from Shaun Gibbons and one from Everett Valtin.

The Cougars haven't beat the Aggies since before the 2009-10 season and end their year on a sour note. However, the Cougars' record improved from the previous year and will look forward to doing the same next season.
