BYU rugby goes 2-0 in the Red Rock Rugby Invitational

BYU rugby defeated the University of Utah and Idaho State University in the Red Rock Rugby Invitational this weekend.

The rugby team had a great start to its season after going 2–0 at the Red Rock Rugby Invitational. The Cougars opened the invitational with a 29–12 win over the Utes and ended with a 27–17 win over the Bengals. The third game against Weber State was cancelled due to snow in Utah.

'You never know what you’re going to get with a new group in their first hit out of the season, but these guys worked hard and made sure that they represented the jersey and the program well,' BYU assistant coach Wayne Tarawhiti said in a press release. 'Overall, it was a good weekend.'

The highlight of the invitational, besides the weather, was the opportunity for all the players to get out on the field.

'Everyone is excited, and focused,' BYU head coach David Smyth said. 'The chemistry is really good right now, and we are looking forward to the rest of the season.'

BYU rugby has a week and a half break to prepare for its games on Jan. 24 and 26 at San Diego State University and University of California, Los Angeles.
