Sears at the Provo Towne Mall will not be closing after all. To celebrate, Sears will host a 'Grand Re-opening' this Saturday, November 3.
General manager Julie Santa Cruz said Sears sold its store in February to General Growth Properties, generating uncertainty about Sears' future at the mall. Because of this, it was announced that the store would close.
'Turns out,' Santa Cruz said, 'they want to keep us around, and we now have an open-ended lease with the mall. Since most of our customers were under the impression that we were closing, we made a decision to have a 'Grand Re-opening' this Saturday, November 3, as a huge thank you to our customers, (who) have been so supportive.'
While many had accepted that Sears was closing, this twist in fates has excited shoppers, as this is the only Sears store in Utah County.
'The response from our loyal customers (has) been amazing,' Santa Cruz said.
Doors will open at 9 a.m., and customers can be prepared to be entertained, dine on cake and even win door prizes.
