College students competed in a free dodgeball tournament to win bragging rights at an extreme trampoline-park on Thursday July 26.

The double-elimination dodgeball tournament featured 22 six-person teams competing head to head at the Get Air Hang Time trampoline park in Orem. The tournament was free with a student I.D. and was the first one held at Get Air Hang Time.

Get Air Hang Time has been open for nearly four months and  is different than other trampoline parks.

“First off, [our] dodgeball court is the biggest dodgeball court that I know of in Utah,” manager Trent Hammond said.

The 40,000 square foot park features slamball, AIRobics!, ZUMBA, foam jumping pits and open jumping along with dodgeball. With the high quantity of daredevils, safety is an important park feature.

Hammond explained the park has a collection of safety measures that may not be noticeable. The park is well-staffed to protect park-goers from injury.

“The safety guys help remind people of the rules,” Hammond said.

The safety guys patrol the different areas of the park enforcing rules such as waiting until the foam pit is empty before jumping in. The foam pits are also deeper than most foam pits at 6.5 feet.

“You’re not going to bottom out,” Hammond said.

The park wants to start monthly dodgeball tournaments with possible weekly games for different leagues. The future tournaments may feature a cash prize or jump passes for the winners of the tournament. Get Air Hang Time also aims to be an affordable activity for students.

“We know students are on a budget,” Hammond said.

Hammond told The Universe that the park will offer jumping after 9p.m. for $5 with a student I.D. Regular prices are $10 for one hour and $16 for two hours. Get Air Hang Time’s hours are Monday through Thursday, noon to 11p.m., Friday until midnight and Saturday 10a.m. to midnight.
