Funeral service for man in motorcycle accident

A motorcycle ride ended in tragedy Sunday with the death of two local young adults.

Police reports say that the victims were David C. Cancilla, 23, and Janet Velasco, 18. The two died around 4:25 a.m. after being thrown off the motorcycle on Route 189 in a patch of construction.

Cancilla and Velasco are reported to have been traveling south when the bike swerved into a cable barrier, resulting in the two falling off the bike and dying on impact.

Velasco went to Mountain View High in Orem. David Cancilla served a mission in Paolo, Brazil for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was attending Utah Valley University.

In honor of Cancilla, a Facebook page has been created. According to the page, the funeral services for Cancilla are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 11 at 1810 W. Springwater Drive in Orem. RSVPs are encouraged .

Cancilla's family released the following information on Sunday:

'To all of our friends and family: Thank you for your love and support and prayers. This morning we lost a son, a brother, a grandson, a nephew, cousin and friend, David Cancilla.

'He lived life fully and loved his family more. He spent his last day on this earth doing what he loved most, serving others, spending time with his family and celebrating life with a big party.  Our heartfelt prayers go to the Velasco family for the loss of their daughter, a dear friend to David.  Thank you for your prayers.'
