The second generation of the Osmond brothers has not failed to live up to their parents'' expectations.
The Osmond boys will perform one night only March 14, at the SCERA Center for the Arts in Orem.
April Berlin, SCERA''s operations manager, said that the chance to see them perform nearby is an exceptional opportunity.
'The Osmonds perform around the world and are making a rare appearance on their home turf,' Berlin said. 'Also, David Osmond, who made it to Hollywood Week on this season''s American Idol, will be performing.'
Berlin said that the fun personality and bright presence of the Osmond group is what makes the show so entertaining.
'The guys are really fun and personable,' Berlin said. 'And their music includes a cappella, top 40, ballads and rock, which is popular with college students.'
According to a press release, they developed their talent through barbershop singing while learning to dance and play different instruments. They have also toured countries such as Canada, Great Britain, Germany, Ireland, Scotland, Japan and Taiwan.
Clearly, musical talent is not lacking with the second-generation. All eight Osmond sons have been successful on stage and perform together singing, dancing and harmonizing.
Jessica Davies, a senior at BYU, and a relative of the Osmond family, said she believes the younger generation Osmonds have lived up to their parents'' potential.
'I think as far as their parents go, they are just as good, but as far as popularity, definitely not,' Davies said. 'They are just not as popular as their parents were, but that''s not necessarily their fault. It''s kind of the timing. Their style right now isn''t necessarily what is popular. But I think what they have done, they have done very well.'
