MBA Program Ranked No. 1 Nationally in its Class

    Brigham Young University”s Master of Business Administration Program is ranked first among regional schools, according to the Wall Street Journal”s 2007 report of top business programs.

    “This is a tremendous honor to be at the top of such a distinguished list of schools,” said Ned C. Hill, dean of the Marriott School of Management, in a news release. “We are grateful to the companies that return again and again to recruit our students. We”re very proud of our graduates and the high professional and ethical standards they have become known for throughout the world.”

    The Journal based the results from a survey that 4,430 recruiters took online between December 2006 and March 2007. According to the Journal, recruiters valued student”s “interpersonal and communication skills, a teamwork orientation, personal ethics and integrity, analytical and problem-solving abilities, and a strong work ethic.”

    The Journal stated that many BYU MBA graduates are finding investment banking to be a good fit. James Engebretsen, the BYU MBA program director,

    “Our focus on investment banking is fairly new and still relatively small,” said James Engebretsen, BYU MBA program director in a news release. “But we”re finding it to be a good fit for an increasing number of our students. It”s rewarding to see Wall Street valuing our students in this area as well as recognizing their strong work ethic, integrity and the great professional training provided by our faculty.”

    The report distinguished national and regional schools based on the type of recruiting that goes on at the school. National schools are recruited nationally, whereas regional schools are recruited from certain regions.

    BYU”s graduates were also ranked No. 2 behind Dartmouth College for demonstrating good ethical standards.

    This year”s top regional school is BYU, followed by Wake Forest University, Ohio State University, University of Rochester and Indiana University.

    The top rankings in the national category are No. 1, Dartmouth College, followed by University of California-Berkeley, Columbia University, Massachusetts institute of Technology and Carnegie Mellon University.
