The 2007 Utah State Fair opens today in Salt Lake City. Gates open at 3 p.m. and opening day admission is offered at a discounted price of $2.
Activities at the fair include magic shows, cooking demonstrations, contests, scrapbooking stations, and Utah''s Own PRCA Rodeo.
The well-known country music recording group SHeDAISY will also be performing today at the Utah State Fair Grandstand at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the performance may be picked up at Grandstand Ticket Office, beginning at noon.
The fair runs Sept. 6 - Sept. 16. Throughout the week there will be a wide variety of entertainment including appearances from Terry Fator, winner of NBC''s 'America''s Got Talent,' Grand Funk Railroad & Uncle Kracker and 'Weird Al' Yankovic.
The Utah State Fair General admission is $8 for adults, $6 for senior citizens, $6 for children ages 6-12, and children under 5 get in free. Discount tickets are available at Smith''s Food and Drug checkouts for $6.
The fair is located at 155 N. 1000 West in Salt Lake City. Gates are open from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. For further information visit the Utah State Fair Web site at www.utahstatefair.com.
