Students Explore Temple Square

By Kayla Mahedy

Students from BYU Summer Scholars Academy visited Temple Square, enjoyed dinner at the Church Office Building and viewed the Joseph Smith film on Wednesday.

For many students the viewing of the Joseph Smith film, 'The Prophet of the Restoration,' was a spiritual experience. A few students described it as 'powerful' and 'awesome.' This film brings out a variety of feelings for everyone. Some said they felt good and others said they felt sad. Overall it was spiritual and uplifting for the students. They were very grateful for the opportunity.

'I loved the film; it was really good. My favorite part of Temple Square is that the Temple points east,' said Lindsey Gueller, of Shawano, Wisc.

While visiting Temple Square, the students were allowed free time to walk around the Square. One student, Andrew Richards from Littleton, Colo., learned about the buildings on Temple Square from counselor Alan Sackett. Sackett taught Richards what the symbols on the temple meant. Richards said he enjoyed this time and cannot wait to go back to Temple Square.

Workers at the Church Office Building were kind in keeping their cafeteria open past hours to serve these students dinner on Temple Square. The students really enjoyed the meal and said it was delicious.
