Spring Splash

By Meghan Morgan

This past Friday, the 2007-2008 BYUSA board hosted one of their first major events, Spring Splash, a celebration of the end of spring term.

From bounce houses to water kickball, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Students felt the activity was a blast and hope to see more fun activities like this in the near future.

'They should have more things like this,' said Jessica Collett, a 21-year-old from Mapleton. 'I loved it.'

Collett said she enjoyed all of the water activities. It made her feel like a kid again, she said.

'It was really fun and kind of laid-back,' said Jodi Meyerson, a 21-year-old from Hatfield, Penn. 'It was a good way to end the term.'

Bonnie Huffman, a nursing major from Winchester, Va., said it was a fun activity, and really enjoyed seeing all of the people that she knew there.

'My favorite part was water kickball because we won through working as a team,' Huffman said.

Huffman said she came for the friends and free food, and was pleased with the results. It was a lot of fun, well planned, and also had good music, she said.

'It was nice to get together with all of the people from BYU,' said John Carmen, a 23-year-old from Miami. 'It was a good way to meet people.'

Carmen said the event was very well attended.

'I thought it was a great summer activity,' said Randy Garver, a linguistics major from Eugene, Ore.

Garver said he came because it was a great summer activity and because he thought it would be a good date for him and his wife.

'There were people screaming and running, and that always makes things more fun,' said Garver''s wife, Kim, also from Eugene, Ore.

Kim Garver agreed with her husband, saying it was a great date idea. It is hard to find affordable dates, and this activity was a great way to promote family fun, she said.

Kim Garver said it was good to have so many water activities on such a hot day.

Overall, students had a fun time at the event and look forward to future activities.
