LSAT Rules Tightened

By Adam Buchanan

This June, LSAT takers will face stricter security regulations imposed by the Law School Admission Council.

Test-takers may only take a clear plastic Ziploc bag with the following items into the testing center: LSAT admission ticket stub, valid ID, wallet, keys, No. 2 pencils (not mechanical), highlighter, erasers, pencil sharpener, tissues, beverage in plastic container or juice box (20-ounce maximum size) and snack for break only.

Test-takers are also allowed to wear an analog watch (no digital watches are allowed because beeping could throw off another test-taker).

No handbags or backpacks, electronic devices (including cell phones), or hats or hoods are allowed except those of a religious nature.

Law School Admission Council officials issued this warning to potential test-takers:

?Ignorance of these new regulations will not be considered an excuse for their violation. Bringing prohibited items into the test room may result in the confiscation of such items by the test supervisor, a warning, dismissal from the test center and/or cancellation of a test score by LSAC.?

Jeffrey Meanza, director of graduate programs for the Princeton Review, said the new LSAT regulations are not much different than the old ones ? they are just more defined.

?They are being much more specific and trying to make it a more secure environment,? Meanza said.
