Orem Apartments Burglarized

By Marette McKnight

An Orem apartment was broken into and burglarized after a resident had an unusual visitor Wednesday evening, March 21, 2007.

A Summerhays apartment resident reported to police that just before leaving his apartment to get something to eat a 'strange Polynesian man' knocked on the door to his apartment. He claimed to be looking for an individual that the victim didn''t know and said did not live there.

The man then 'became pushy' and insisted the victim was lying, according to an Orem Police Department news release. The man wanted to come into the apartment and look for the individual himself but the victim refused.

The victim then left his apartment and returned to find the door kicked in and numerous items stolen such as DVD movies, an Xbox machine and a laptop computer.

Lt. Doug Edwards of the Orem Police Department said the door of the apartment had been locked when it was kicked in.

When contacted, employees at the Summerhays housing complex office were not aware of the burglary.
