It''s 'Pirates of the Caribbean' BYU-style: Get clues to the treasure map, find the map and discover the treasure.
It''s all part of 'Treasure Hunters,' a free pirate-themed activity put on by the Student Activities Board.
The Student Activities Board tries to sponsor short activities during the middle of the week to provide students with a break from stress associated with schoolwork, Shannon Anderson said. Anderson is a coordinator with the Student Activities Board.
The activity''s theme was inspired by the NBC show with the same name.
Those who attend the activity will show up at the Traditions Lounge, register and then be grouped into teams of two to four.
Each team will be given a clue and then be released to find more clues, which will be scattered throughout the campus.
Each clue leads students one step closer to the treasure map.
'We try to make the clues pretty clever,' said Alan Stoffer, a senior from Milwaukee majoring in economics.
Stoffer, an employee with the Student Activities Board, said the clues should lead students to the Internet for hints to figure out the answers.
'If you''re the first one to find the treasure, finder''s keepers,' Stoffer said. 'There will be prizes for everyone.'
First, second and third place teams win prizes. Consolation prizes will also be given to all who register.
Hunters have a time limit of an hour and a half, but Stoffer said that will be plenty of time to find the treasure.
'I''m looking forward to all of the pirate-themed fun we''ll be having,' Stoffer said.
