Definitions of 'The Fray': (1) a noisy quarrel or brawl, (2) a competition or contest, (3) the popular music group performing in Utah tonight.
The Grammy-nominated quartet The Fray will grace the stage of the McKay Events Center tonight at 7:30. The stop in Orem for this Denver-based alternative rock band is part of an international tour. In the next few months, they''ll make appearances in venues ranging from Cary, N.C., to London.
Rachel Forsey, a Spanish-teaching major from Peoria, Ariz., has tickets and is excited to attend the concert with a group of friends.
'I''ve been a fan of The Fray for about a year, and I think they have great music,' she said. 'It''ll be a fun concert.'
Forsey''s sister is flying in from Arizona, and they''ll see the show together.
'We found out that The Fray was going to be playing, so my sister changed her flight specifically so that she could see them,' Forsey said.
The Fray has been nominated for two Grammy Awards, 'Best pop performance by a duo or group with vocals' for 'Over My Head' and 'Best rock performance by a duo or group with vocals' for 'How to Save A Life.' The Grammy awards will be broadcast Feb. 11 on CBS.
According to their Web site, www.thefray.net, the group 'will officially eclipse Coldplay''s 'X&Y' to become the best-selling digital album since SoundScan began tracking digital albums.'
On the music group''s MySpace page, band member Joe King tells of the group''s rise to fame and what it took to get there.
'Some people think we came out of nowhere quickly,' King said, 'but we had been working hard for four years before the mainstream public had heard about us.'
