Don''t shower at the creepy Bates Motel. 'Who ya gonna call?' is always the question, while three bumbling witches plot to suck the youth from children. Finally, a little voice cries, 'They''re here!'
It''s all part of the Spooky Cinema Series at the SCERA Center for the Arts, at 699 South State St. , Orem. The event is keeping the Halloween spirit alive all month, featuring five Halloween movies every Saturday during October.
'We chose them because they''re all classics in their own right,' said April Berlin, operations manager for the SCERA, 'those movies you don''t get to see on the big screen anymore, and there''s nothing quite like seeing a movie on the big screen.'
Starting Oct. 14, a spooky movie, such as 'Ghostbusters,' 'The Haunting,' (1963) or 'Hocus Pocus' will be shown every Saturday night, with a double feature of 'Poltergeist' and 'Psycho' (1960) on Oct. 31, All Hallows Eve.
Aimed at all age groups, the films that are scheduled for the Spooky Cinema Series range in style from comedy to down right scary.
'I''ve seen ''Hocus Pocus'' a few times,' said Bradley Marchant, a 24-year-old family history major from Brookline, N.H. 'They''re funny because they remind me of when I was younger. ... It makes me think of trick or treating. I wish we could still go trick or treating now. Although, maybe I can''t because I''m too tall.'
Some people are not into the slasher type Halloween movies but enjoy comedic scary movies instead.
'Funny Halloween movies I like,' said Kara Keeling, a 19-year-old history major from Gilbert, Ariz. 'It gets me into the spirit of Halloween.'
Admission is $3 per movie or $10 for the entire series. For more information about the films and ticket purchase, visit http://www.scera.org.
