Some gun owners spend a considerable amount of time practicing their shot at some of the nearby shooting ranges, including students. Local ranges include Rangemasters in Springville, the Provo City Gun and Pistol Range and the Provo Gun Club Shotgun Range.
?I shoot all over Utah County, but enjoy Rangemasters the most, probably because of their wide variety of equipment and because I can really do whatever I want,? said Dean Christensen, a 23-year-old BYU student from Mattawa, Wash. ?I really like how many different styles of shooting I can practice, and I really love how cheap it is to shoot there.?
Rangemasters is also popular with those in the gun-range industry.
?Being based in Utah Valley, Action Target has enjoyed a good and strong relationship with Rangemasters,? said Tom Wright, director of manufacturing and research and development at Action Target, which is the industry leader in shooting ranges and firearm training. ?Providing tar-getry and safe ballistic containment systems is something that makes it fun and enjoyable for serious and recreational shooters alike.?
The three ranges cater to several styles of firearms training. Rangemasters offers a variety of skill levels for beginners and experienced shooters. The indoor facility contains the most advanced technology in Utah County. Some of the amenities include interactive shooting, a variety of moving targets, standard shooting lanes and a digital simulator.
Both the Provo City Gun and Pistol Range and the Provo Gun Club Shotgun Range are outdoor ranges, providing more bare bones amenities. The Provo Gun Club Shotgun ranges caters to shotgun shooting, and the Provo City Gun and Pistol range requires that shooters bring their own targets and stands.
Students can take firearms courses and enroll in classes to re-ceive concealed weapons permits.
According to the National Rifle As-sociation, firearm training is an important part of a young person?s life, because it teaches them proper safety and technique.
