Two years, four Jock Rocks and one Hip Hop Halloween later, Jock Rock organizers are at it again.

?Get Waxed? is a Jock Rock sponsored ski activity to be held at 7 p.m. tonight at the Brick House.

?It?s a great opportunity to come out and get your skis or board waxed, sharpened and ready for the season,? says organizer Chris Baird. ?We?re really excited to be teaming up with Outdoors Unlimited for this. They?re providing the wax, the waxing machine and edge sharpening technicians so we can do all this for free.?

    Technicians? Free?

?Most businesses will throw money at something, which is great, but Outdoors Unlimited is going the extra mile for us. They?re donating ski technicians and their time. It?s all about people,? Baird said.

Baird says ?Get Waxed? will be different from Jock Rock; less party and more socializing.

?We?re going to set up a projector to show ski movies, serve hot chocolate and wax people?s skis for free,? Baird said. ?Tell everyone to dress for the cold. It?s going to be outside.?

Also on the bill for ?Get Waxed? is local musician John Papworth.

Organizers like Baird first held Jock Rock in the fall of 2003 as a way for friends to get together in a sports themed environment. The first party saw about 350 people attend, followed by Jock Rocks II, III, IV and Hip Hop Halloween. Baird estimates that since Jock Rock III, more than 2,000 people have attended each party.

Now, with a noticeable increase in attendance at each successive party, Baird says he is looking to expand what Jock Rock does.

?We?re broadening our horizons,? Baird said. ?We?re sponsoring other parties like ?Get Waxed?.?

The party-throwers-that-be are not the only ones who have noticed an increase in attendance. Kyle Lyman, 20, an exercise science major form Gilbert, Ariz., has attended Jock Rock from the start.

?I love it,? Lyman said. ?It just gets bigger every time, and it?s so funny to see everyone dressed like athletes and jocks.?
