The Pearl Awards, which recognize achievement in LDS music, will be held for a first time at BYU in the Madsen Recital Hall 8 p.m. Tuesday.
?BYU is such a gorgeous area,? said Staci Peters, one of the producers of this year?s show. ?We?re really excited to have the music department hosting us.?
The awards ceremony, usually only open to nominees and members, currently has extra seats available.
Those interested in attending should send an e-mail to staci@axiomfinancial.com by 5 p.m. Monday.
A live stream of the awards ceremony will be available at pearlawards.ldsaudio.com.
BYU a cappella group Vocal Point will be among the performers this year, as they are nominated for four awards.
Providence, Joy Gardner, Mindy Gledhill, Tammy Simister Robinson and pianist Paul Cardall will also be among this year?s performers. Hilary Weeks will host the event.
The Pearl Awards, founded by the Faith Centered Music Association, have been in existence since 1997. The awards will not be televised as in years past, introducing a new format in which the televised gala will be produced biannually, according to a press release.
Several technical awards will be given out at a pre-show dinner at the BYU Museum of Art.
