BYU Symphony Orchestra performed some long songs during their performance in the de Jong Concert Hall.
During the two hour performance the group played three songs. Two of the pieces were about 35 minutes long and were made up of several movements. But time doesn''t seem to matter to the performers.
'We''re having fun when we play so it naturally goes by faster,' said Cassandra Sutton, symphony member.
The orchestra consists of 92 members that must audition to be part of the group.
Eric Hansen, Symphony Orchestra conductor, led the group in playing three songs from the romantic era, which included music from Franz Liszt, Nicolo Paganini and Antonin Dvorak.
During the concert the group played with BYU faculty professor and violin soloist Monte Belknap who made his BYU debut at the performance.
'This is a wonderful concerto and he plays it fantastically,' Hansen said when he introduced Belknap. 'This is his BYU debut in front of a large ensemble, and we''re honored to feature him.'
Robert Lacey, a symphony member said, 'Dr. Belknap is incredible. It was a neat, neat experience to work with him.'
