Moore tickets hit eBay

By Sarah Light

While officials continue to double-check their preparations for Moore''s speech, several Utah Valley State College students and faculty have chosen to make last-minute profits from the event.

Ryan Tanner, former student and current instructor for the aviation science department at UVSC, decided to sell his ticket for Michael Moore''s speech on eBay.

UVSC officials set aside free tickets for both students and faculty to attend Moore''s speech at noon Wednesday. Those who wanted to attend had to pick up their ticket in advance from the McKay Events Center.

Tanner said he chose to take advantage of the opportunity to use his free ticket and make money off of it. He said because the tickets are a hot item, he assumed other people would want them.

'I''ve heard him speak before, and I pretty much know where he''s coming from,' Tanner said.

Several others have had similar objectives and have also posted their tickets on the Web site. As of Monday, one seller received as much as $165 for two tickets to the speech.

While most of the tickets are being sold from locations within Utah, a few tickets are being sold from outside of the state. Bidding for the tickets will continue up until the event on Wednesday afternoon.
