Mount St. Helens, after several earthquakes and seismic disturbances, has begun erupting white steam Friday.
The mountain, found in Cowlitz County, Wash., is known for its 1980 eruption and has been the gathering point for several scientists lately as the quakes increased in frequency and magnitude. It is not known, however, if Friday?s eruption is the one predicted by the scientists.
The 1980 eruption killed 57 people, destroyed local wildlife and bodies of water and dropped ash on towns 250 miles form the volcano.
