Inmate commits suicide

By Annie Reynolds

The Utah Department of Corrections is trying to find family members of an inmate who committed suicide on Sept. 2.

Officers found the offender hanged in his cell late that night. Nothing had appeared wrong with the inmate when an officer talked to him at 8:30 p.m. on a routine check, stated the press release on Sept. 8.

The 32-year-old man left only a suicide note for his fiancee. The man, convicted of a drug charge on May 26, has been in and out of jail since 1998.

Officials know the man has a mother living out of state and brothers believed to be living in Utah, but no one has been able to contact or locate the family.

The Salt Lake County Sheriff''s Office and the medical examiner are still investigating the death and looking for any possible reasons or motives.
