UFO siting

By Andrew Damstedt

A local man spotted unidentified flying objects in a picture he took in Provo Canyon.

Tommy Woodard, 22, a photo librarian at the Utah Film Commission, was taking pictures near Vivian Park in Provo Canyon, not realizing that one of his photographs would bring up something interesting.

At first glance, the photo looks nothing more than a normal picture of a picturesque mountain view, but if one were to zoom in on the speck above the tree line, then it looks more like an UFO, Woodard said.

'When I originally took the picture, I did not see the image in question,' Woodard said. 'When I got back to my office is when I first realized that I captured something different.'

It was when he got back to his office that he realized that the 'little blurb' looked more and more like an UFO. After zooming in on the blurb, he was more and more convinced that it was something unusual.

'I zoomed in a little more, and each time it looked more like a flying saucer - sounds kind of weird,' Woodard said.

Woodard describes the blurb as having a purplish hue on the bottom and grayish on the top.

The picture was sent to Hill Air Force Base for further examination, but Woodard says he has not heard anything back from them.

Hill Air Force Base spokeswoman Lt. Caroline Wellman said Thursday she is awaiting response from the 388th Fighter Wing as to whether any of their F-16 jets were above Provo Canyon Tuesday.

Woodard has does not believe that the blurb could be just a speck of dust on his lens, because none of the other photos that he has taken has a similar mark.
