What is "Real" Art?

Recently, I had occasion to wander through the George Q. Cannon Center in Helaman Halls. I noticed that there was an art exhibit where the freshman residents could display some of their handiwork. I was shocked to discover that some of the residents were presented in a demeaning manner. Their art work was displayed, not on a fancy display board (as other works were), but taped to the wall under a big sign that read, 'Kiddie Art.'

To add insult to injury, on this sign were drawn stick figures that were saying things like, 'I'm an artist!' In my mind, this is a clear attack on the hard work of these aspiring artists. I think that the works of art presented by these individuals are every bit as important as those who used red paint on canvas and that they deserve to have equal presentation. Who is the Helaman Hall Counsel to decide what is 'real' art and what is 'kiddie' art? The last time I checked, they were freshmen, just like the rest of us.
