Remember Sodom and Gomorrah?

As I read letters in the Readers' Forum, I find myself fired up quite often, but never so much as when I read a letter from one Jennie Hyde of Palo Alto, Calif. in the Tuesday, Feb. 24 edition of the Daily Universe.

I was admittedly flabbergasted at how Ms. Hyde could be so na?ve in thinking that we, as Latter-day Saints, are worried about our lack of moral confidence in ourselves, when this isn't the issue.

In 2 Nephi 26:22, Nephi explains how the Devil slowly binds men with, basically, tiny threads until such men are bound and dragged, captives to be taken down to Hell.

Already we allow ourselves and our children to view too much filth our lives as we walk down the street or turn on the TV. Does anyone think that our Heavenly Father is pleased with general wickedness? What about gay marriage? Imagine telling little Timmy or tiny Jessica why his or her friend at school has two daddies; now, how will you fit that into the discussion of the temple and its ordinances? The birds and the bees?

Wake up! We don't accept gay marriage because it's not right, it shouldn't exist. Do you remember Sodom and Gomorrah? When the Lord was going to destroy it, Lot asked that the towns be spared for the righteous' sake. It kind of makes you wonder; were there not any righteous, or had they been so 'tolerant' that the righteous just became numbered with the murderers, thieves, liars, adulterers and yes, the homosexual?
