'Legacy' is good

I wish to respond to David Sallay's 'Not a good 'Legacy.'' I thought his last sentence was amusing: 'Isn't there a place in heaven for all of God's children, even the ugly ones?' I don't believe God thinks any of his children are ugly, nor should we. Nor do I believe that the main theme of the LDS movie 'Legacy' is that a girl leaves an ugly bald guy for a handsome guy who is not bald. I could be wrong, but I have only ever seen it as a pioneer story - a fictional depiction of some actual events along the Mormon's trek from Kirtland to Utah.

As far as the love story in 'Legacy,' I think it is sappy and shouldn't be taken seriously. Movies seldom reflect true reality in all its grosser points. You are attracted to who you are attracted to and we all know that if it is simply physical attraction and only that, eventually the like will fade. I don't think all the engagement break offs here at BYU were merely because a hotter guy or girl came along either. We will all be wrinkly old prunes some day; the point is to value what is in the inside the most. Just because I don't have the body of a Barbie doll, doesn't mean I'm ugly, no fun, stupid and basically a twit. You can get out of movies, whether LDS or not, exactly what you want. And you can twist them to support or detract from your super ego as well.
