Police Beat for March 14-18

Indecent Exposure

On March 15, around 1 p.m., officers responded to a complaint that a man was exposing himself in lot 56 located at 800 N. 150 E. Police arrived on the scene and were able to locate the suspect. The man admitted to the indecent behavior. Police arrested and cited the man for lewdness. The man was banned from campus.

Identity Fraud

On March 18, a Wymount Terrace resident reported his personal information had been used to obtain a credit card from a Delaware bank. The bank had told the victim that the card had been used for purchases in Colorado.

Theft

Between Feb. 14 and March 14, a hard drive valued at $500 was stolen from the Eyring Science Center. The victim had put a new hard drive in an unlocked desk drawer a month ago.

Between 9 p.m. on March 14 and 9 a.m. the next morning, two laptops, a zip drive, a video camera, a digital oscilloscope, a voltmeter, a HP calculator and other miscellaneous lab equipment were stolen from the Benson Building. The property is valued at $900. Police are still investigating.

A Palm Pilot valued at $180 was stolen from the Crabtree Technology Building sometime between 5 p.m. March 15 and 6 a.m. the next morning. The victim reported the palm pilot had been in his desk drawer.

On March 18, between 7:10 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., a Dell laptop computer was stolen from the Testing Center. The victim left his laptop under a seat at 7:10 p.m. When he returned 20 minutes later, the computer was gone. The victim searched the building with the Testing Center staff but was unable to locate it. The computer is valued at $500.

A bike was stolen from Deseret Towers on March 15. The bike was returned to the bike rack later that day.

On March 15, a victim at Deseret Towers reported his bike had been stolen sometime between Oct. 2001 and now. The bike is valued at $150.
