SLOC launches high-tech Web site

By Rebecca Ryser

Keeping up with the 10 million visits, the Salt Lake Organizing Committee launched the largest event Web site in sports history for the 2002 Olympics Monday, Nov. 19.

With direct feed from each of the venues, the new Web site will feature the fastest and most comprehensive live results of any other source, said Perkins Miller, director and general manager of Internet for SLOC.

It will also feature more than 800 athlete biographies, feature stories related to the Games, and e-mail updates related to specific events, Miller said.

The site can be accessed at olympics.com, saltlake2002.com or www.nbcolympics.com.

NBC, MSNBC.com and the MSN network worked with SLOC to make the Web site.

SLOC''s Web site is currently experiencing four to five times more traffic than the Sydney Games site ever received, Miller said.
