Letter to the editor: Coke as bad as beer?

Dear Editor,

I've been working on my logic skills for a while now -- being a theater major, they're a bit shabby. But after reading a letter to the editor about Coke and sin and beer, I'm confused. So I'll explain my findings so far to you, Dear Editor, and maybe you and the sound population of BYU can help me out.

A letter writer wrote in comparing non-caffeinated Coke to non-alcoholic beer. This, indeed, is twisted logic. However, in following that twisted logic, does that make caffeinated Coke like unto beer in severity? And does that make me, a ready partaker of caffeinated goodness, just one step away from taking a ride on the alcoholic sin wagon? If that is indeed the case, am I also only two baby steps away from knocking on my parent's door, a stoned impregnated shell of the member of the church I used to be?

If this is the case, I'll meet all the other caffeine lovers in the soft drink aisle at Smith's. They've just come out with Lemon Diet Coke, and we can partake of the joy while encouraging one another to stay moral. Heaven knows we can use the help.
