Elder Workman: Obey the prophets without murmuring

By Sarah Cahoon

Elder H. Ross Workman of the Quorum of the Seventy spoke to the Church concerning murmuring against living prophets.

He said there are steps involved in murmuring: 1.Questioning 2.Rationalizing/making excuses and 3.Slothfulness in following the commandments of the master.

He used the example of the Children of Israel''s failure to enter their promised land of Canaan to emphasize the consequences of murmuring.

'They questioned, made excuses and then they were disobedient. They refused to follow the living prophet, so the Lord took away that blessing,' Elder Workman said.

He asked Church members to look into their hearts and evaluate their actions.

'You have sustained the living prophets. What do you do when we hear these messages? Do we murmur or do we follow the commandments with exactness,' Elder Workman said.

Church members were told that their faithfulness in following the commandments is pleasing to Heavenly Father.

'Our father must feel joy when we follow the commandments with exactness and with a willing heart. May we follow our living prophets without murmuring,' Elder Workman said.
