Electronic Easter greeting cards available on lds.org

By Alex B. Leeman

Move over Hallmark.

For those wishing to send a little Easter cheer, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has an answer.

Internet users can now log onto www.lds.org, The Church of Jesus Christ''s official Web site, and send a friend an electronic Easter greeting card via email.

According to the Web site, The Church of Jesus Christ believes this is an excellent way to share an inspirational Easter message with a friend, and provide an introduction to the church''s beliefs about the Savior and the importance of the Resurrection.

Anyone is welcome to send an e-card through the church''s Web site. The card features a picture of Christ appearing after the Resurrection, and may also include a personal message written by the sender.

Additionally, the sender can attach the video clip 'The Lamb of God' about the Savior''s resurrection, an audio clip of President Hinckley''s testimony, or a slideshow titled 'He is Risen.'

To discourage unauthorized e-cards, the sender must answer a confirmation email message before the e-card is sent.

After confirmation, a message is sent to the recipient informing him or her that the customized e-card is available to view. Clicking on a link in the e-mail brings up the card in the Web browser.
