Letter to the Editor: Bring mullet styles into Honor Code acceptance

Dear Editor,

It is time to revamp the grooming standards of BYU. Men's hair length should be extended to facilitate optimal mullet growth.

Many of you may be wondering what a mullet is. A mullet is characterized by short hair on the top and long hair in the back. A prime example of 'the' mullet is Billy Ray Cyrus. Other examples can be found at Big Kmart, 7-eleven and Lagoon.

Mullets are beautiful. The first main reason for alerting the current grooming standards is the aesthetic appeal of the mullet. The ladies are drawn to a man with a well-coifed mullet. Guys are naturally attracted to the 'fem-mullet' in its full female glory.

We are not trying to change BYU standards to follow popular trends of the world. The mullet is always in style. You might say it is eternal.

Another strong argument for adjusting grooming standards is that many ancient prophets had mullets. Thumb through the pictures in your scriptures for your ancient mullet-viewing pleasure. Besides, have you seen the statue in front of the Abraham O. Smoot Administration Building? Yes, even Brigham Young sported one too.

These are just a few of the reasons why the grooming standards should be adjusted to allow for the mullet. The aesthetic appeal alone is enough to warrant the need for a change.

As Virgil once said, 'Love conquers all things.' Love the mullet and we can conquer the Honor Code.
