Not all Orem residents are content with a proposed new subdivision is at 500 South Geneva Road in Orem.
The subdivision includes 31 lots in the preliminary plat, with one deep lot.
The discussion, brought up at Orem''s Planning Commission Committee meeting Wednesday evening, centered on the rezoning application that was led by Leo Lyons, Project Manager, of Anjeanette Estates, a new subdivision.
'We need a small park in the neighborhood,' said Dee Hartman, an Orem resident.
Early plans for the site included a small pocket park on one of the lots, in place of a home. But, the current plan has exchanged the earlier planned park with a proposed home-site.
'The children are getting gypped, the proposed neighborhood will be developed so that children must cross Geneva Road in order to get to a park, it''s simply not safe,' Hartman said.
The park was taken out of the current plan and will not be included in the final plans, Lyons said.
'The park is a great idea. Because the subdivision is zoned for starter homes, it will attract many young families with young children,' said Yvonne Romney, Planning Commission Committee member.
Another issue raised at the meeting was the controversial deep lot.
The Anjeanette Estates plat includes one deep lot, which is usually harder to sell, said Richard Rawson, Planning Commission Committee member.
Deep lots, in the past, have had the tendency to become neglected lots, Rawson said.
Planning for the Anjeanette Estates has been underway for nine months and Lyons is ready to ignore the one deep lot and move on with the current plan.
The plan, as it stands, is legal and complies with all ordinances in effect for the specific zoning.
