Jeff Betts, Utah Freezz player/coach, has been named the 2000 World Indoor Soccer League (WISL) Coach of the Year. The award is chosen by the WISL coaches.
Betts led a young Freezz team to a 15-9 regular season record and a third-place finish in his first season as head coach.
Betts came to Utah in the off-season from Portland, where he played the previous seven seasons.
On the field, Betts played 21 games and was second on the Freezz in scoring with 35 points. He also set a new franchise record for assists by recording 17 on the season.
Over his 210 career indoor games, Betts has totaled 215 goals and 184 assists for 399 points. That is an average of almost two points per game.
Betts lead the Freezz to the semifinals of the WISL playoffs, where the Freezz lost to the Dallas Sidekicks.
