Orem police officers arrested Travis Stewart, 24, of Orem, Sunday night, Nov. 26, after he allegedly pointed a gun at another driver in a road rage incident at the intersection of 1600 North and Main Street in Orem.
The incident occurred when another driver thought Stewart cut him off at the intersection. The driver opened his door and asked Stewart what he was doing, said Lt. Doug Edwards of the Orem Police Department.
Stewart then pulled out a 9mm handgun and pointed it at the other driver, Edwards said.
Although police did not respond at the scene, they later went to Stewart's house and arrested him, Edwards said.
Stewart faces Class B misdemeanor charges for brandishing a weapon. The penalty for these charges is up to six months in the county jail and/or a $1,000 fine, Edwards said.
Most road rage incidents in Orem do not involve guns, he said.
'We have a lot of road rage; we don't necessarily have a lot of gun display,' he said.
