A BYU student regained consciousness Tuesday, July 25 after five days in a coma.
Jason Largey, 23, a math education major, from Hemet, Calif., spent five days in a coma after falling off scaffolding Thursday, July 20.
He had been cleaning windows at the Joseph Smith Building when the scaffolding collapsed and he came crashing down.
Largey was taken to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center where he was treated.
Though he has regained consciousness, he remains in serious condition in intensive care, according to the nursing staff at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.
Wednesday saw improvement in Largey's condition, said David Zincke, 22, Largey's roommate.
'Jason is doing much better today, he was walking around the unit and was able to talk,' Zincke said. 'His short term memory is somewhat impaired and he doesn't remember the accident at all.'
Zincke said the accident occurred when Largey climbed the scaffolding to retrieve an item that had been left behind.
The scaffolding collapsed and Largey fell approximately 20 feet, landing on his head, he said.
