In April's General Conference for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, President Gordon B. Hinckley said the LDS church is planning on dedicating 36 new temples this year.
The church announced six more dedication dates Wednesday, June 28.
LDS church spokesman Dale Bills said the construction of temples is on schedule with President Hinckley's remarks.
The Merida Mexico Temple will be dedicated July 8, opening to worthy church members July 10; the Veracruz Mexico Temple will be dedicated July 9, opening to worthy church members July 10; Oklahoma City, Okla. Temple will be dedicated July 30, opening to worthy church members July 31; the Baton Rouge, La. Temple will be dedicated July 16, opening to worthy church members July 17; the Houston, Texas Temple will be dedicated Aug. 26 and 27 opening to worthy members Aug. 28; the Birmingham, Ala. Temple will be dedicated Sept. 3, opening to worthy members Sept 4.
The Houston Texas Temple will have eight dedicatory sessions, while the other five will have four.
