Thousands participated in the largest gathering of Boy Scouts of America ever in Utah.
Art shows, trading booths, fireworks and an air show are just a few of the highlights of 'Expo 2000' held at Deseret Peaks Recreation Complex, west of Tooele.
The Expo, which began Thursday, June 8, and ended June 10, brought together Boys Scouts from 23 districts across the Great Salt Lake Council.
'We wanted to have an event that the kids will never ever forget.' said Jim Davison, general chairman of the planning committee.
Chris Hill, a scout from Bountiful troop 862, said he was most looking forward to lunch and the air show since he had never seen one before.
The event has been in the making for the past three years, said Leo Monson, advisor to event planning.
Honorary Chairman, James E. Faust, addressed the Boy Scouts Friday, June 9 with Governor Michael Leavitt just before the fireworks.
The fireworks show was 'the largest ever seen in the state of Utah,' said Dean Bishop, member of the Executive Board of the Great Salt Lake Council, Boy Scouts of America.
