Police are still searching for one suspect in the Provo kidnapping of a 19-year-old man, while three other suspects are awaiting a first-felony court appearance.

One of the four men accused of kidnapping a 19-year-old male March 20 was caught at a hotel in the East Bay part of Provo on the evening of March 23, said Detective Mark Broberg of the Provo Police.

Broberg received a tip from an individual who knew the whereabouts of Scott Martinez, 24, from Utah County.

With the help of the Utah County Major Crimes Task Force, Provo Police arrested Martinez at a hotel in East Bay, Broberg said.

'The hotel people were good to work with,' Broberg said. 'They helped identify the room Martinez was in.'

Richard Garison Callaway, 23, from Utah County, is the last remaining suspect in the case that has not been found by the police, Broberg said.

'We have received some tips on his whereabouts and assume that he is still in Utah,' Broberg said. 'I think we'll have him pretty soon.'

The three that have been arrested for the possible kidnapping are Martinez, Aaron Sanford and Shane Samaniego, all from Utah County.

The three received official charges on the kidnapping during a bail hearing in Utah 4th District Court by Judge Donald L. Eyre Jr. on the morning of March 24.

Eyre ruled that the three suspects would need $100,000 in cash to make bail, said Leilani, Judge Eyre's clerk.

'The three are in jail for the kidnapping, but they are also there for other reasons,' Broberg said. 'At least two out of the three are also in for probation violations and warrants for their arrests.'

The court scheduled the three suspects to appear March 30 at 8 a.m. for a felony first appearance, Leilani said.

On the morning of March 20, assailants kidnapped a 19-year-old male in the southwest part of Provo at a home, Broberg said.

With his wrists, ankles and mouth wrapped with duct tape, the assailants stuffed the victim into the trunk of a car, Broberg said.

The kidnappers released the victim that same day after driving to various locations in the county for a couple of hours, Broberg said.

Broberg said the assaulted 19-year-old sustained minor injuries and received treatment at a local hospital.

Provo Police offer a reward of $500 to obtain information on the whereabouts of Callaway.

Provo Police ask anyone with information concerning the suspect's whereabouts to call dispatch at 852-6210.
