Priesthood holders were counseled to have faith and trust in Jesus Christ at the Saturday night priesthood session of general conference by Elder H. Bruce Stucki of the Second Quorum of the Seventy.

Elder Stucki told the story of his daughter finding and keeping a baby sparrow, and raising it in their home. The sparrow learned to trust his daughter and go to her for food, he said.

'(Jesus Christ) is calling us today to be faithful and to trust him, that he might feed us,' Elder Stucki told priesthood holders.

He emphasized the importance of always being willing to serve, answering the call to take up the work God. He spoke to priesthood holders about becoming more involved with their callings and duties.

'We need to step forward and say, `here am I, send me,'' Elder Stucki said. He challenged the male members of the Church to do more, to act on the counsel given by Church leaders.

He also counseled priesthood holders to become more active in missionary work.

'Become involved in the work of bringing souls unto Christ,' he said.

Elder Stucki told the men gathered that they needed to accompany new converts along the road of conversion, staying with them 'until they have a solid foundation and testimony to carry them through time and into eternal life.'

Elder Stucki ended his remarks by reiterating the importance of responding 'to the call of Lord,' and showing the same faith and trust in Jesus Christ that the sparrow showed in Stucki's daughter.

He called for unity and love among the different quorums of the Church and closed expressing his knowledge of the truthfulness of the Church, President Hinckley as a prophet and of Jesus Christ.
